Thursday Network's Platinum Anniversary:
Celebrating 20 years of Empowerment
On February 27, 2012, Thursday Network will celebrate 20 years of empowerment and service to the Greater Washington Community. Join us on the night of our 20th Birthday for a celebration and fundraiser at Recess Lounge as we kick off our "Platinum" 20th Anniversary.
Attendees will be treated to a wine-tasting event catered by Vino Tasting Events and Kustom Desserts. We will hear remarks from notable TN leaders of the last 20 years, and from the creator of Thursday Network - Greater Washington Urban League CEO Maudine R. Cooper.
Proceeds will support the Thursday Network’s Empowerment Academy at Woodrow Wilson High School in Northwest Washington, DC. The Empowerment Academy is an annual Thursday Network mentoring program that pushes high school students to discover ways to empower themselves and their communities. Students are matched with teams of young professionals who are dedicated to helping students achieve through a structured program with a 20-week curriculum. The Academy instills the National Urban League’s Five-Point Empowerment Agenda, self-respect, entrepreneurship, life skills, and college preparation in 40+ high school juniors to prepare them for an empowered life.
